FULL TIME FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC
The North Palos Fire Protection District is now accepting applications to create an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The testing will establish an eligibility list that is good for two (2) years. Testing process will be as follows:
APPLICATION AVAILABLE: Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 8:00am in-person or at www.northpalosfire.org
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, February 28, 2022 by 4:00pm – Exam study guides will be distributed when the application is returned
ORIENTATION AND WRITTEN EXAMINATION: Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Check-in will begin at 6:00 pm, with doors being locked promptly at 7:00 pm for the orientation to begin at Station #1, 10629 S Roberts Rd, Palos Hills, IL
Provide certification of passing the Candidate Physical Assessment Test (CPAT) and ladder climb through an IAFF licensed agency within the previous 12-month period (due by the written exam March 8, 2022).
Interviews will start on March 16, 2022. A 70% on the written score must be obtained to continue to this phase of the testing process. NO RECORDING DEVICES, CELL PHONES, PORTFOLIOS, OR BRIEFCASES WILL BE PERMITTED INTO THE INTERVIEW ROOM. PLEASE LEAVE ANY OF THESE ITEMS IN YOUR VEHICLE.
All applicants must be US citizens, a minimum of 21 years of age and cannot be 35 years of age or older at time of hire, except as otherwise provided by Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6. All applicants must be IL State Certified Paramedics at time of hire. Candidates must submit copies of the following with their applications (reference complete list with application):

PART TIME FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

PART TIME FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC
(EMT-B will be considered)
The North Palos Fire Protection District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Firefighter/Paramedic. The position requires members to work 12 or 24-hour shifts with an hourly pay rate of $19.00. Part-Time members work an average of 6 to 10 shifts per month. Additional shifts and trades are allowed with prior approval. Shifts are scheduled monthly based on a member’s availability through an online scheduling application. Part-Time members are provided uniforms through the District’s quartermaster and a holiday incentive is provided for select holidays worked. Part-Time members are eligible to earn Experience Preference Points for the District’s Full-Time eligibility register.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- Be certified or eligible for certification as Basic Operations Firefighter or Firefighter II through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshall
- State of Illinois (IDPH) licensed Paramedic or will consider EMT-B with one year of licensure. Note: Preference given to EMT-B applicants pursuing paramedic training.
- Be certified or eligible for certification as Hazardous Materials First Responder - Operations through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshall
Candidate Physical Assessment Test (CPAT) is desirable but not required.
